Drilling for Freedom - by Daniel Lee

What Separates a Gravity Golfer from the Rest of the Herd?

Effort. Simply stated, one of the easiest ways to spot a Gravity Golfer is that they look like they aren’t working very hard to create great power and consistency. Every person's body type is different and there are no two people that will look exactly the same when swinging a club. True Gravity Golf principles, if applied correctly, will result in a swing that looks effortless while creating tremendous power and consistency.

There are many good players with the potential to become great, and great players with the potential to become even better.  What everyone is searching for is a way to achieve their maximum power and consistency: especially among top players in the world.  Most of those guys are capable of driving the ball over 300 yards at any given time, but it comes down to who can keep it  in the fairway more than the other guy.  That is what is going to affect their paycheck on Sunday. Don’t think I’m leaving the short game out of this, because the same principles can be applied from the driver through the putter. Physics laws don’t change from a 300 yard drive to a 3 foot putt, so why should your essential mechanics? Basically, in every swing, you can learn how to power the shot rotationally with your mass instead of trying to use just your hands and shoulders when getting closer to the green.

A great many players have accomplished amazing feats without using the Gravity Method, but they can’t escape the physics. When you move weight (your arms) on one side of an object (your body), it will to pull you in that direction: simply put, it is centripetal force at work. Without a compensation, if you stayed completely relaxed, you would fall straight over on your face. If you have ever seen anyone do this you are probably in a very small group. The body has natural instincts to save itself from harm, in this case, falling. There has to be some force to offset this and that is what the great golfers have been able to do. Some players try to pull their hips around and back to offset the force, others might snap their knee back or shove their body backwards. In the Gravity Golf swing, we take this complication out all together by using the Counter-fall at the top of the back-swing to keep from struggling with this in the down swing. You can’t beat mother nature:  learn to treat her like your friend and it will take you a long way.

  1. Great post Danny. I can see how effortless it looks when you swing the club. Even more so in person, the effects of your Dad's training and your hard work shows in the distance and consistency you get out of all of your shots. . . the first time I saw you hit a driver in person in 2011, I could barely believe how far and consistently you could smash your driver at only 150 lbs back then. . . this stuff is the real deal. . .
